I’m Christopher, I’m a violinist with the Bolton Chamber Orchestra, I enjoy free time running, cycling, and mountaineering exploring UK National Parks. As a Graduate in Music BMus (Hons), I have acquired a wealth of experience in educational and healthcare roles as a primary school Teaching Assistant, Support Worker and Administrator with Cygnet Healthcare.

My role as a Support Worker enabled me to further insight Mental Health needs associated with the vulnerable, as achieved by means of facilitating healthcare provision in child and adult services. This experience in a service-user accountable role strengthened personal qualities in self-reflection, patience, and resilience, whilst maintaining integrity and courtesy. In addition, the designation in clinical governance enabled me to acquire a skillset in Excel data handling, written reports, and clinical auditing including participation in Hospital governance meetings. As a YHA Youth Advisory Team member, I am pleased to gain experience in a team-based role which includes sharing professional courtesy and compliance to YHA values and ethos.

My Teaching Assistant position enabled me to develop behavioural, emotional and wellbeing techniques addressing the needs of children. Strengthening professional awareness, acquaintance to such challenges associated with child vulnerability enabled me to achieve this. My Camp Counsellor role at Ferncliff Camp (AR, USA) furthered my understanding of pastoral and welfare of children. Hence I maintained a Presbyterian ethos gaining greater adaptability and knowledge. In addition, In 2018 and 2019 I was a YHA volunteer Team Leader at YHA Edale which enabled me to gain insight into YHA as a charitable organisation including the facilitation of outdoor activities and enrichment for children on summer camp seasonal residentials.

As a Youth Advisory Team member, I am excited to promote YHA core values of social inclusivity, diversity and disabilities of children, qualities I consider fundamental to maintaining the YHA’s ethos as a charitable organisation. With my involvement in the YAT subcommittees, I am keen to help expand YHA’s outdoor enrichment, education, and training opportunities; addressing child mental health and wellbeing needs could be achieved with commitment to supporting these initiatives as an aim.
