Ian was elected as a Trustee in 2014 and has been an enthusiastic hosteller since the 1970s, when a weekend stay at Hindhead was the beginning of a life-long love of YHA.
Ian has had a successful career as a senior executive in large private and public sector organisations, specialising in strategic management and finance. Over the last 10 years he has worked at Board level, leading organisations through major change so they have strong long-term futures.
Ian is married with two children and lives in Hampshire. Outside of work he is a volunteer Duke of Edinburgh leader, helping young people in local schools achieve their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. He is also a keen cyclist; including doing Lands End to John O’Groats in ten days to raise money for charity.
As a Trustee, Ian wants to use his experience – particularly his ability to balance the ethos of public service with private sector business thinking – to help YHA thrive in the future.
