YHA provides budget accommodation for individuals, families and groups. We aim to inspire all, especially young people, to broaden their horizons, gaining knowledge and independence through new experiences of adventure and discovery.

Volunteering with YHA is a fantastic way to have fun, learn new skills, meet new people, boost your CV and give something back.  We can offer help with travel expenses, discounted meals and even free stays for volunteers taking part in residential opportunities. We have a variety of different volunteering opportunities so you can choose when, where and how you give your time to support us. You can volunteer on your doorstep at your local hostel, or at one of our many beautiful hostels throughout England and Wales. Winter volunteering opportunities

We have a volunteer event bonanza in the Lake District this winter!  We have an incredible 15 events taking place at beautiful locations such as YHA's Grasmere, Black Sail, Eskdale and Wastwater.  Tasks on offer include painting educational spaces and transforming overgrown gardens.  The events are 5 days long and qualify for the DoE Gold residential.  You can find out more here or by emailing claireregan@yha.org.uk

Exciting new area volunteer roles

Exciting new area volunteer roles

Next year we are launching a new initiative to inspire more people to support YHA in their local area.

We are looking for volunteers to take on the new role of Support Group Coordinator in the two trial areas of Lake District and the South East. The Coordinators will help shape volunteer opportunities by meeting with YHA staff and also help improve volunteer recognition by capturing and sharing their stories.  They will invite supporters to regular supporter forums so they can meet, socialise and discuss ways to support YHA.

YHA Lakes - Cumbrian Office Angels needed!

We are seeking help from volunteers who have administration experience, great communication skills and are looking for a flexible and enjoyable volunteering role. Help is needed to update our records, respond to enquiries and undertake basic office tasks. If you live in Cumbria, have a couple of hours a week to spare and enjoy being part of a team then please get in touch. Countryside Volunteer at YHA Llywn y Celyn

YHA Llywn y Celyn is looking for a countryside volunteer to support the team with the maintenance and improvement of outdoor areas. The hostel is situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons a National Park in Wales. Tasks will involve the improvement of access to the outdoor area, maintain pathways, trail markers and signage. The volunteer will also support with the development of trails and information for visitors as well as helping the team with every day hostel tasks.
