Places to stay in Cumbria

Cumbria is famously home to the Lake District, which covers one-third of the county. A vast, scenic expanse of fells and lakes that has been inspiring poets and artists for generations, it's one of Britain's top tourist destinations and a particular favourite with hikers looking for a new challenge.

The county also has a wealth of Roman remains, mills, castles and forts that bring history to life for children and adults alike. Add to this, lovely towns like Carlisle, Kendal and Whitehaven to explore, and there are plenty of reasons for families to spend time in Cumbria.
