Places to stay in Bristol

The stunning city of Bristol is often referred to as the unofficial capital of the West Country, and is famous for its maritime history. The River Avon weaves through the city's centre, with many of the best family-friendly activities being water based. The city is often said to be bohemian in nature, with the proliferation of galleries in the area going some way to cement this fact.

Bristol is also one of the warmest cities in the UK, so is perfect for a summer city break if sun is what you are looking for. Don't forget to walk up the hill to the nearby Clifton Suspension Bridge too!

Five Free Things To Do in Bristol

Clifton Suspension Bridge
Located in the leafy suburb of Clifton, the Suspension Bridge is undoubtedly one of the region's most recognisable landmarks. Spanning the Avon Gorge at a height of 75m, a trip to the bridge will be truly memorable for all the family.

M Shed
M Shed is a relatively new addition to Bristol's museum scene, charting the city's history from the prehistoric times to the present day through objects, art and archives.

Oldbury Court
Located just three miles from the city centre, Oldbury Court is a beautiful and diverse estate, combining woodland and riverside paths with a vast array of child friendly activities including a sand play zone with pirate play ship!

Banksy Walking Tour
The graffiti artist Banksy is one of Bristol's most famous sons, with his vibrant and colourful artwork adorning many of the city's streets. The masked gorilla in Easton is a particular favourite with children.

Brandon Hill
