Places to stay in Cardiff

As the largest city in Wales, Cardiff may be famous for its shopping, cutting-edge architecture and unique attractions, but the city is also extremely proud of its rich heritage: historic buildings – including the majestic Cardiff castle – and a wealth of museums serve as testament to the importance of the area in Welsh history. Home to the Millennium Stadium, and with facilities for sailing and watersports at Cardiff Bay, the city is perfect for fans of a more active lifestyle. The TV series Doctor Who is filmed in and around Cardiff, so fans can enjoy spotting landmarks such as Queen’s Arcade Shopping Centre, the Wales Millennium Centre and Llandaff Village that they’ll recognise from the show. Gavin and Stacey was filmed in nearby Barry, and fans can take an official tour which starts at Barry Island train station. Whether you’re on the lookout for places you’ve seen on-screen or ready to let Cardiff’s sights leave their mark on your own story, a city break here is well worth the trip.
