Situated between Scotland and the Lake District on the path of the famous Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle is a bright, cultured city full to the brim with history.

Norman strongholds and Roman civitas sit happily alongside a contemporary city centre that is also a medieval market town. Surrounded by picturesque countryside, with the Lake District to the south and Scotland just ten miles north, Carlisle is perfectly located to enjoy everything Cumbria has to offer. Take a stroll along the Wall, around a national park or up to the imposing cathedral to experience the best of the city.
