Spotlight on YHA Bristol

Spotlight on YHA Bristol

Home to an assortment of weird and wonderful festivals, world-famous attractions and of course Banksy - there's no wonder Bristol is always buzzing! Our refurbished YHA Bristol sits in the heart of this creative city, with a bustling Harbourside location that everyone loves. Experience our vibrant café culture, watch the canal boats, or ask our staff what's happening in the UK's Green Capital.

The Hostel

Why choose YHA Bristol for your next city break? As soon as you walk into our hostel, you'll meet admirers of this unique city from all over the world. Bristol is a true party location, bursting with interesting characters and events, and our hostel is no different. Just hang around in our Grain House café to experience a melting pot of cultures - you're bound to make some new friends. We've even got Jack Rosies, Polly Money, Matt Wright and Trevor Kaneswaren playing in our canalside bar on the 16th! Our hostel's ambient social areas have never looked so good; we've had a Banksy-inspired makeover, complete with murals showcasing our landmarks. YHA Bristol is open all year round to the public too, so you can watch the world go by with a pint. There's a scrumptious menu too, so you can begin a night on the town with nibbles and conversation on our plush furniture. If you're here for work, why not book a meeting room and get inspired by the area? Whether you're here for a family holiday, a business trip or one of our famous festivals, our hostel makes a top base.

Festival City

There's something exciting happening near YHA Bristol every weekend (if not every day) and the city's festival vibe lives on all year round. We're perfectly placed for July's Harbour Festival - so grab yourself a space for this celebration of music, dance and fun before we're full. Or we've got VegFest later this month, the UK's biggest vegan event with demos by day and live DJs at night. Here for Bristol's awesome art scene? Don't miss the Urban Paint fest for Europe's biggest free graffiti festival. One of our must-sees is the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta; an unforgettable weekend of hot air balloons and breathtaking air shows. With Let's Rock retro festival, Big Green Week and Grillstock coming up too, you'd better beg our staff to help you pick your next stay. If you've managed to dodge a big event, YHA Bristol is minutes from the trendy bars and pubs of Harbourside. Or you can wander the graffiti-covered streets to find gems like the Stokes Croft cultural quarter and vintage dream St Nicholas Market. You're sure to find plenty to make you want to move here.

Family Attractions

Never to be outshone, Bristol is fantastic for families and the city has some incredible attractions to explore. You only have to stroll a few minutes before you're surrounded by churches, old buildings and architectural eye-candy. At-Bristol is our science centre and boasts its own planetarium, funny live shows and hundreds of interactive exhibits. It's only 3 minutes away from YHA Bristol and you'll leave with a brain bursting with information. There's also the Bristol Aquarium; packed with unusual critters like electric eels, poison dark frogs and friendly underwater residents. The city itself has a barrel of stories to tell, and you can discover many of them at M Shed - a museum of local experiences from our community. There's more to the city's art scene than Banksy too, so don't miss a trip to the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. You'll find a wealth of thought-provoking video artworks, installations, traditional painting and much more to discover. Or for an award-winning attraction of sights, sounds and smells from the world's first great luxury liner, spend a day on the SS Great Britain museum ship.

Outdoor Activities

Bristol isn't called a green city for nothing - it's filled with lush public areas, quiet picturesque parks and natural beauty. If you fancy exploring some of its prettiest corners, spring welcomes back the largest urban walking festival in the country to Bristol. Or if you're more interested in man-made wonders, every Friday there's a tour of Bristol's rich history of street art. How does stand up paddleboarding on the waterways of the city sound? SUP Bristol is an excellent way for thrill-seekers to see the harbour and there are taster sessions, group days out and even yoga classes on the water. There's even a place for climbers to get scrambling, have fun and burn off steam at the Undercover Rock. So what are you waiting for? Book a budget break in the UK's Green Capital.
