Pitch your adventure at Keswick Mountain Festival

Eager explorers will be centre stage at Keswick Mountain Festival this year with a live Dragon's Den-style pitch for money to fund an adventure project - and entries are now being accepted.

The Berghaus Live for Adventure Challenge, held for the first time at the show last year, invites would-be adventurers to submit their ideas for expeditions, with the best five being shortlisted to appear live at the event. The finalists will then make a five-minute pitch directly to judges, who will take into account the response from the watching audience when deciding on an overall winner. That winner will then receive a £1,000 towards the cost of their expedition, as well as £1,000 worth of gear from Berghaus.

Entries can be submitted via the company's website until 5pm on April 19th, but even if you don't have an expedition idea in mind, there is still plenty going on to attract your attention at Keswick Mountain Festival.

It has been confirmed that popular explorer and TV presenter Monty Halls will be one of the many guest speakers at the event. Mr Halls has done a range of exploration and natural history programmes for the BBC, and will talk about his expeditions and new series during his guest lecture.

Festival director Lucy Scrase said: "Monty has appeared at Keswick Mountain Festival before and proved to be extremely popular with visitors.

"I am really pleased that we are able to welcome him back this year. His show completes a really varied programme of speakers and the Saturday line up promises some great entertainment."

Other speakers include Paralympics star Karen Darke, while there are also a range of outdoor activities on offer and workshops to inspire you to try new things, such as canoeing adventures, and learn new skills, like campfire cooking.

The Keswick Mountain Festival will run from May 15th to the 19th. If you want to join in this fantastic event, why not book a stay at YHA's great value local hostel?
