Hostel of the Week Archive: YHA Brighton

Hostel of the Week Archive: YHA Brighton

One of our newest locations, YHA Brighton is as vibrant and quirky as the legendary seaside town itself. With luxurious sea view rooms, decor that oozes Regency glamour and a seafront location to die for, it's easy to see why this hostel feels so special. Join the party in our bar, make us your base for Brighton's iconic festivals, or treat yourself to homemade cake in our stylish cafe - a stay at YHA Brighton is anything but ordinary.

The Hostel

From its gilded chandeliers to its extravagant bird-based wallpaper, YHA Brighton will leave you amazed at how luxurious a Youth Hostel can be. Our beautiful premium rooms offer double beds, crisp white towels and fab views of the British seaside - this is hostelling like you've never known it before. Opened in 2014, we kept the eccentric charm and period features of the gorgeous 1700s Regency building, while adding all the mod cons you need for a stay in the coolest city in Britain. Along with the familiar dorms, bunks and handy self-catering facilities, YHA Brighton has some of the most exciting and creative social spaces around; filled with local art (look out for our 'draw a friend' wall) and great for meeting colourful characters. How could you resist popping in for sweet treat and a coffee with our Cakeaway deal? A slice of cake and a hot drink for £3 hits the spot after a day of vintage shopping, and the bar stays open around the clock if you've been exploring Brighton's nightlife. With all this and more, there's no wonder YHA Brighton is raking in the rave reviews...could it be our best hostel ever?

Brighton Life

Famous for its liberal values and bohemian vibe, Brighton is home to an amazing alternative scene and there's always something weird and wonderful going on! A town full of festivals and fun, Brighton is home to a year-round celebration of contemporary art, indie music and performance events. It's home to the Brighton Pride festival, a glorious carnival of diversity and the UK's biggest celebration of everything LGBT - join us for exotic costumes and unforgettable cabaret acts. Brighton Festival is one of the boldest events in England for creative arts, and Brighton Fringe rivals Edinburgh for fresh new comedy acts and homegrown performers. If you're venturing out after dark, check out North Laine; it's Brighton's hippest cultural quarter and packed with unique pubs, cafes and entertainment. You can even take a brewery tour at the stylish North Laine pub, along with a taste of delicious craft beers. Our hostel is in tune with Brighton's party spirit, so ask our staff what's on nearby or join us in our eclectic bar and make some new friends!

Family Attractions

You can't beat Brighton for a good old-fashioned seaside holiday with your family - our hostel is super close to all its most famous attractions. The iconic Brighton Pier is just outside and it's packed with arcade games, entertainment, yummy donuts and all the fun of the fair. Brighton's shopping district The Lanes is legendary and you'll have to drag rebellious teens (and yourself) away from its twisting alleyways of independent boutiques, quirky gift shops and wild new fashions. Just minutes away, culture-lovers can explore the extravagant architecture and flamboyant decor of the Brighton Pavillion and its neighbouring museum and art gallery. Kids will love making underwater friends at the world's oldest operating aquarium and, if you dare uncover the grisly history of the historic town, try the nearby ghost walk.

Cycling and Walking

One of the UK's best cycling areas, Brighton's population of keen cyclists grows every year. It has a brand new cycling hub near the train station with 500 parking spaces for bikes, along with an on-site cycle repair shop and spinning classes. Our hostel has its own cycle store too and if you fancy a bike ride just ask us at reception and we'll introduce you to Amsterdammers bike hire and any local tours to join. Brighton is home to some thrilling cycling events including the challenging Brighton Big Dog mountain bike race, the coastal Brighton 100 and the Ride It Brighton Sportive. There are many cycle lanes winding around the town and seafront, plus the South Downs National Park (on Brighton's doorstep) offers trails to tackle by bike or on foot. If you fancy some fresh air and a ramble in the beautiful countryside, catch a bus to the stunning cliffs of the Seven Sisters or top picnic spot Devil's Dyke.

So what are you waiting for? Book your stay and explore Brighton's unique culture for yourself.
