Helmsley - Local Info
YHA Helmsley is just a few minutes walk away from the shops, pubs and 13th Century castle. Exploring the moors on foot or by bike is a definite option from here and there are also many places of historic and cultural interest to visit like Duncombe Park, Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Abbey to name but a few.
Castle Howard is just a short drive away which is the spectacular setting for the 2008 film Brideshead Revisited. Tours of the house now include an exhibition about the making of the film and the gardens and shops complete a fantastic day out. www.castlehoward.co.uk
