Marriage Ceremonies
We have a licence to hold civil wedding ceremonies in two locations at Hartington Hall – the oak panelled Entrance Hall dating back to 1611 with its original stone floor, dark wood panelling and beautiful stone fireplace, and the aged stone Pavilion overlooking the lawns and garden. The latter gives you a unique opportunity to be married as near to outside as is possible in England at the present time (at present, in this country marriage licenses will only be granted within a solid structure).
The use of the wedding licence is optional and subject to an additional charge (£360). However, between April-October inclusive use of the wedding licence for weekend bookings is a requirement.
Please note that the local registrar will need to be contacted separately. (The Registry Office, Town Hall, Market Place, Ashbourne Derbyshire DE6 1ES. Telephone: 01335 300575)
Decorations
In the past couples have decorated the Hall and the tables themselves to their own taste and budget. However, we are very happy to help with advice and have contacts with good florists in Buxton and Ashbourne. If you wish us to take care of the decorations then we will be happy to supply you with a separate quotation.
Entertainment
We have many contacts with a range of entertainment providers and are happy to pass on their details to you. These include discothèques, jazz bands, and string quartets.
Linen Hire
Crisp white tablecloths and matching napkins set off the dining rooms a treat and is an essential item for all wedding receptions. For your convenience we have top quality table linen for you to hire at the Hall at very reasonable prices - £125.
Photographs
Tying the knot in the gorgeous location of Hartington Hall definitely deserves top-notch photographs to record the event. If you would like help in seeking out a local photographer please do ask.
Children are welcome
We are proud of our reputation for welcoming children of all ages. We have family bedrooms with cots available, high chairs, children’s menus, an adventure playground, toy box, games room, and herd of pygmy goats (who still need feeding, wedding or not!).
Children love the easy-going atmosphere and will find plenty to do leaving their parents more relaxed and able to enjoy themselves. Please note, however, that staff are unable to supervise children and that child-care is the responsibility of parents throughout the visit.
Marquees
It is possible to have a marquee on the lawn but this must be agreed first with the managers and booked direct by yourselves. There will be an extra charge for erecting a Marquee in our grounds (£300). We have contacts with suppliers so please enquire. It is with regret that we are unable to serve food or drinks in the marquee.
Customers own gazebos may be used without charge.
