Exploring the Great Outdoors:

Walking in the area.Walking in the White Peak Countryside is a popular choice of activity for many of our guests, young and old. There are some lovely circular walks direct from the Hall's front door. Route maps are available detailing the numerous walks on offer in the immediate vicinity, as well as those further afield.

'Walk of the Month'. Every two months we publish a new ‘Walk of the Month’ featuring a different route. The routes vary in length and location, many being accessible via public transport. The walks are designed to appeal to the many different people who visit the area - so some are very short for families with young children or may be used as an evening stroll before dinner, with other routes much longer for the more seasoned rambler. The 'Walk of the Month' explores areas a little further afield too, so in addition to the pretty limestone scenery of the White Peak, there is ample opportunity to discover the bleaker landscape of the Gritstone Edges in the North or The Roaches over the border in Staffordshire.

Guided Walks. Another option is to join a guided walk – the Peak Park Ranger service offer a series of summer walks, as does Derbyshire County Council’s countryside service’. And, of course, there is the annual ‘Peak District Walking Festival’ held in April & May every year. See their website for further details.

Cycling:

Hartington is a brilliant venue to choose if you enjoy cycling as there are loads of opportunities for all ages & levels of ability

Family Cycling. If you prefer to stick to traffic-free trails then there are three to choose from within two miles of the Hall:

A new initiative introduced last year is 'Route 54', a link -route between the trails listed above, using track and minor roads

Adult Circular Routes. A series of 5 circular routes based at Hartington Hall are available. These are called ‘The Hartington Flower’ routes and have been designed by the managers for more experienced cyclists. They explore the very varied local area and are around 25 miles each.
