Byrness - Local Info
Byrness is a small hamlet 5 miles from the Scottish border on the northern edge of Northumberland National Park and the Eastern edge of Keilder Forest. Local wildlife includes red deer, red squirrel, water voles and red kites. You can walk straight from the hostel into Keilder Forest and the mountain bike trails are only 12 miles away at Keilder Castle. Byrness is a popular resting place for walkers tackling the Pennine Way. Quad bikes can be hired and driven around a specially designed area at a local farm (5 miles away).
