Wells-next-the-sea - Local Info
With what are widely considered some of the best beaches in Britain within a few miles of Wells, this is a seaside resort for all the family to enjoy. The quayside is still vibrant with fishing boats and yachts, a great place to enjoy some of the best fish n' chips you're likely to ever have!
A couple of miles outside Wells is Holkham Hall, a beautifully preserved 18th century stately home. Although still occupied, visitors are invited to explore the hall and the incredible surrounding gardens. Holkham Bay is part of the estate and features very highly on the best beaches polls.
Boat trips can be arranged to visit the seals off Blakeney point. A great way to spend a few hours for adults and kids. Also, the Walsingham light railway is only about a 20 minute walk from YHA Wells.
For you outdoors types, there's plenty of great walking and cycling routes within easy reach. Including the famous North Norfolk Coastal Path.
There's dozens of fantastically preserved churches, some dating from the 13th century, dotted up and down this part of the coast. Definitely worth a look for those with an interest in history. You can even have a pint in Nelsons local, just a few miles up the road in the picturesque Burnham Thorpe. This area of Norfolk really needs to be seen to be believed.
