My YHA Work Experience

1st August 2014

By Emily Hancock

I’m Emily Hancock, 15, from Highfields School, Matlock. I was given the opportunity to visit YHA National Office for my work experience. I chose YHA because I’m very interested in travelling and have been since a young age. For my GCSEs I took Travel and Tourism, Business Studies, Spanish and Geography so I thought YHA would be a perfect work placement.

YHA Named as Top Organisation to Work For

YHA (England and Wales) is celebrating after being named one of the country’s top employers in a national newspaper. The charity came 69th in The Sunday Times 100 Best-Not–For–Profit Organisations to Work for List in 2014.

YHA (England and Wales), which employs around 800 people across its head office and 160 Youth Hostels, was given the accolade after staff gave it glowing reviews in an impartial survey carried out by The Sunday Times. Staff feedback resulted in YHA being placed above UNICEF UK and the National Trust in the 2014 list.

YHA Nominated for Personnel Today Awards

YHA England & Wales has been nominated for two of the prestigious Personnel Today Awards 2013.

The YHA has made the shortlist for the Award for Excellence in Employee Relations and the Award for Employee Benefits and we believe the reason for this recognition is down to our continued dedication to keeping our policies up to date and our staff motivated and rewarded in the best possible way.
