Voluntary Wardening
Voluntary Wardening offers opportunities for YHA members to run a Youth Hostel for a week. The small self-catering hostels open to Voluntary Wardens are in some of the most idyllic locations in the network.
To apply you'll need experience of staying in these small hostels and be willing to attend a weekend training course which covers the hostel routine, paperwork, customer service and health and safety. All Voluntary Wardens must also complete an Enhanced CRB Disclosure.

Do it 4 Real Volunteer Team Assistants
Applications now closed for this year. Please contact us to register your interest for 2010.
Location: Various YHA Do it 4 Real Centres
Description: Volunteer Assistants will work with a group of young people during their stay at camp. The role includes supporting, encouraging and motivating young people to take part and make the most of their stay. You can opt to volunteer for between one and six Camp weeks, depending on your availability. All volunteers need to undergo a suitability assessment, including an enhanced CRB disclosure.
When: From 19th July-29th August 2009, plus all volunteers must attend induction training from 10-12th July 2009.

Volunteer Student Placements 2009
This autumn we have various opportunities for volunteer student placements in a number of YHA locations. Placements can be from as little as two weeks to two months and gives you the opportunity to find out how YHA works and runs on a daily basis as well as gaining valuable experience within the network. They are available to both students living in the UK or abroad.

Are you interested in working in a fantastic location to help us in Manchester? We need volunteers who are keen on making a visit to Manchester really special.
Youth Hostel Association is always looking for help inside and out.
We are looking for volunteers to help with the gardening and general maintenance work in and around the grounds of YHA Manchester.

YHA Osmotherley Volunteer Hostel Assistant
We require a fresh pair of hands, together with a warm smile and a positive attitude to help at this picture postcard destination.
The hostel is a former mill, nestled amongst the Cleveland and Hambleton Hills on the western edge of the North York Moors.
You will be able to help make peoples stay even more special by helping the YHA team with general hostel operations.
The accommodation is available for volunteers at the hostel and would be suitable for up two people from October to 15th November.

YHA Holmbury St Mary Volunteer Gardener
We are looking for a Volunteer Gardener for Holmbury St Mary Youth Hostel.
Set in the beautiful Surrey Hills Woodlands, close to Guildford, Dorking and Horsham, this is an opportunity for an experienced gardener to maintain and develop the grounds.
Equipment available on site, food can be provided whilst at the hostel and reasonable expenses paid.
If you can spare one a day a month, midweek preferred, but days, dates and times to suit.
Frequency can be amended according to amount of work, seasons etc.

YHA Bellever Volunteer General Assistant
Volunteer General Assistant
YHA Bellever is a busy small hostel set in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, surrounded by farmland, forest and open moorland.
We are looking for volunteer general assistants to help and support our dedicated team of staff in the running of the day to day the hostel.
Your help will ensure more people enjoy the YHA experience.
If you can spare a week or more from 20th March to 31st October 2009, we can provide private accommodation, up to 4 beds, suitable for families or a couple.

YHA Sheringham is nestled amongst some of the best beaches in the country.
If you like to go to inspiring places and discover this friendly hostel, you can volunteer and experience a behind the scenes opportunity of hostel life.
You will be involved with helping guests have a memorable visit to the north coast of Norfolk, be involved as a volunteer assistant to support hostel operations.
Sheringham is open 7 days a week throughout October and November; a minimum of 7 days is usually required to get a feel for the work.

Volunteer Photographers
We are looking for volunteers with photography skills, either as a professional or a good amateur photographer to help build up our image library.
We need striking and high quality images of locations, customers, events, volunteers and staff to assist in the promotion of YHA. Images will be used in PR, publicity material and on the website.
We would like to work with a number of good photographers from different part of the country to cover our network. We can offer some travel expenses but these will be capped for cost and environmental reasons so it is likely that volunteers will travel to hostels in there local area.
