Yahoo travel and Visit Britain have noted two Youth Hostels in their ‘top 10 rooms with a view’ search. YHA Pen Y Pass and YHA Coniston Coppermines were included in the search and commented that ‘the views when you get to the top are hard to beat.’
Coniston Coppermines Youth Hostel, Lake District, England
Halfway up the Old Man of Coniston, one of the Lake District’s tallest peaks, this youth hostel is a favourite with hikers and walkers. Surrounded by fells, it’ll give you a great head start if you’re planning to bag Wetherlam or the Old Man itself. The journey to the hostel up a rutted track from Coniston is a great hike and the views when you get to the top are hard to beat. For mote information CLICK HERE
Pen y Pass Youth Hostel, Snowdonia, Wales
Crouching bravely more than 1,000ft (305m) above sea level on the wind-battered slopes of Snowdon, Wales’ tallest mountain, is the Pen y Pass hostel. It’s a great base for climbers wanting to conquer the peak and staying here you’ll get a great head start. It’s basic but very comfortable and boasts a great mountaineering history. It was once the haunt of Victorian climbers - George Mallory of Everest fame once stayed here on his early climbing trips to Wales. For more information CLICK HERE
