Open to All

A big welcome to all non-members

In 2005, our 75th anniversary year signaled change and celebration, and what better way to mark that than by inviting non-members to enjoy our amazing network of Youth Hostels in England and Wales.

This important change to membership means that non-members can now stay at Youth Hostels by paying a £3 supplement to the normal overnight price per night (£1.50 for under 18s).

We introduced these changes because we want all our accommodation to be truly open to all, so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of travel.

A bit of background…
YHA exists today as a result of the support and commitment of its members. We’ve become increasingly aware however, that while our charitable objective speaks of “helping all”, the requirement to become a member can be a barrier to many who would like to experience staying with YHA.

We want to increase the number of people staying in YHA locations – not only do we want more people to enjoy the benefits of travel, but increased visitors and income will also allow us to invest in properties for the future.

Is membership still important?
Yes! Now more than ever.
YHA will remain a membership organisation, and will continue to offer its members the excellent benefits and discounts that make a YHA membership card such a fantastic purchase. The support of our members remains crucial to our existence and development. YHA members each play an important part in ensuring that YHA can maintain its work with disadvantaged young people. Maintaining security
The security and safety of our guests continues to be our primary concern. We will maintain this by requiring that all non-members wishing to stay with YHA will produce one of the following forms of identification when arriving at a YHA location:

Credit card details
Driving Licence
Passport
Utility bill or bank statement with home address

So please remember to bring along a form of identification when you visit.

We’re looking forward to meeting you!
