YHA is a charity. Our object is:
“To help all, especially young people of limited means, to a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside, and appreciation of the cultural values of towns and cities, particularly by providing youth hostels or other accommodation for them in their travels, and thus to promote their health recreation and education.”
YHA’s Board of Trustees make sure that YHA is properly run in line with this object. YHA has 12 trustees and, currently, has four national officers – a chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, and assistant treasurer.
Trustees are YHA members and they are elected for three year terms at the Annual General Meeting held each year in July. Each year YHA invites applications from people wishing to become trustees.
The Board monitors the performance of YHA and makes decisions on policies.
